We keep this site deliberately simple: it is an informational article about handmade candy, with a few browser-side conveniences. There is no account system, no checkout, no advertising network, and no third-party analytics service. The paragraphs below describe exactly what happens when you visit.

1. Scope and who we are

This policy covers the pages published under the Sugar Petal Atelier name on this domain, including the article page and this privacy policy. Sugar Petal Atelier is a small confectionery studio. If you need to reach us about anything in this policy, use the contact details in section 9.

2. Information we handle

We have deliberately limited what is collected. Three kinds of information can arise from using this site:

Summary of information handled by this site
TypeWhere it staysWhy
Consent choiceA first-party cookie and browser local storageSo the cookie banner does not reappear on every page
Tasting box selectionBrowser local storage onlySo a saved flavor list survives a page reload
On-device page-view countBrowser local storage, only if you allow itTo understand which pages are read; the count is never transmitted
Messages you email usYour email provider and our mailboxTo answer your question about flavors, ingredients, or orders

The message form on the article page does not submit anything to a server. It composes a draft in your own email application; nothing is sent until you choose to press Send there. If you do send an email, we use the name, address, and message you provided only to reply, and we do not add you to a mailing list without asking.

3. Cookies and local storage

A cookie is a small text file a site asks your browser to keep. All cookies on this site are first-party, which means they are set by this domain and not by an advertiser or a tracking network. The banner shown on your first visit asks for your choice before any optional storage is used.

Cookies and browser storage used on this site
NamePurposeCategoryDuration
sp_consentStores your accepted or declined preferences and the date of the choiceEssentialUp to 12 months
sp_boxKeeps the flavors you added to your tasting boxEssential, on requestUntil you clear the box or clear browser data
sp_viewsA simple counter of pages viewed in this browserOptional, on-deviceUntil consent is withdrawn or browser data is cleared

Essential storage is used only to make the features you see work as described. The optional counter is off unless you accept it or switch it on in the preferences panel. We do not use cookies for advertising, remarketing, cross-site profiling, or fingerprinting, and we do not embed social media widgets, web fonts from third parties, or external tracking pixels. jQuery, the only JavaScript library on the site, is served from our own /js/ folder.

4. How information is used

  • To remember your privacy choice and display the correct consent state.
  • To keep your tasting box available while you browse.
  • To maintain an anonymous, on-device page-view count when you have allowed it.
  • To reply to questions you send by email and to provide ingredient or allergen information you request.

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, we do not build advertising profiles, we do not make automated decisions about visitors, and we do not process payments through this website. Because the optional counter never leaves your browser, we do not receive it at all.

5. Links to third parties

Some links open services outside this site. The Get directions link opens Google Maps, and email links open your own email application. Those services only receive information when you choose to follow the link, and their handling of any data is governed by their own privacy policies. We do not load their scripts, maps, or trackers into our pages, so no connection to them is made simply by reading this site.

6. Retention and security

The consent cookie expires within 12 months, after which the banner asks again. Tasting box data remains until you clear it with the Clear the box button or clear your browser storage. Emails are kept only as long as needed to answer your question and to keep a record of any order discussion, after which they can be deleted on request.

This site is served over a standard web connection and uses no database of visitor information. Browser-stored data is controlled by your browser: you can inspect and delete it in your browser settings at any time. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so please avoid sending sensitive personal or financial details by email.

7. Your choices

You are in control of everything this site stores. You can reopen the preferences panel, switch the optional counter off, or withdraw consent entirely and start again. Browser settings also let you block or delete cookies and local storage, although the tasting box feature will then reset between visits.

Email a privacy question

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding personal information, such as requesting access, correction, or deletion. Write to us using the address in section 9 and we will respond to the contact details you provided. We do not require an account, so there is no profile to export.

8. Children's privacy

This website is a general-audience informational site about confectionery and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has emailed us, please contact us and we will delete the message.

9. Changes to this policy and contact

If we change the way this site handles cookies or messages, we will update the date at the top of this page and describe the change here. This policy was last updated on November 2, 2026.

Questions about this policy, about an ingredient card, or about anything else can be sent to hello.sugarpetal74@gmail.com or by phone at +1 (503) 555-0186. You can also return to the article page.
